Because they are as important to us as our kids.
My puppy is more excited to see me walk through the door than the kids ever were. Our dog, Gromit, as irritating as it is that he runs out the door every chance he gets, would be such a loss to our family. He has been with us since David was 2.
Our pets are our family, too. They love us unconditionally. I hope your grief eases soon.
